Obstacles of top companies and how Tunity indirectly guides the way

Marketing companies in a quality, competitive and high-performing way. It is the trade mission of the Flemish Center for Quality Management (VCK). Several large organizations such as Brussels Airport, the National Lottery and Proximus are striving for that business excellence.

They are assisted in this by VCK consultants. Their specializations are very diverse: from ISO certifications to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and quality in general. They prepare audits that tell companies how they are performing in this field: where are the pain points and how is the road to improvement?

To make those audits even more qualitative, Tunity helps VCK consultants create a Quality Audit Roadmap (QAR). It is a checklist of potential pain points in the business world and how to deal with them strategically. It is a checklist that is not only a guide for companies, but also a manual for quality consultants.

The basis of the checklist was laid during a strategy meeting. All consultants shared the issues that "their" companies were struggling with. What transpired during that meeting surprised everyone: different consultants put the same obstacles on the table.

It confirms all the more the need for clear guidelines that guide companies toward perfection. For how is it that companies are not aware of all the competencies of their personnel? An ill-considered use of personnel slows down the entire business process.

How is it that management is often not on board with what is going on within the company? They lack the necessary communication tools and, as a result, cannot set thoughtful goals or Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). If you don't know where you stand, it's impossible to assess what you can achieve and what the opportunities are.

New, shared insights, provide new opportunities for improvement.

Why is it that staff members' responsibilities are vague or their knowledge is incompatible with the task package? It creates a waste of time. A shame, because everyone knows that time equals money.

In short, the findings from that one meeting were poignant, but also the trigger to better and cohesive insights from the consultants. Everyone is aware of the obstacles, possible solutions and desired effects in the future.

The meeting was a moment of "refreshment," so to speak. It was an interesting exchange of perspectives, ideas, obstacles and solutions. The meeting was also a moment of listening to each other. It was the perfect opportunity for the consultants to learn from each other.

As moderator, Tunity is very pleased with the outcome of that meeting. The participants confirmed this:

"It is intriguing and inspiring to see that across various sectors (from government to manufacturing to retail) the same issues occur that then still often require similar solutions."

For those aligned solutions, the consultants prepare checklists intended for the VCK library. The ultimate goal is to encourage business growth at each member organization. It is not only about growing in numbers, but also in professionalism. It requires better relationships in companies, better assessment of competencies and greater customer knowledge.

After new audits based on the checklists, the VCK gets the data and turns it into benchmarks and forecasts. The goal is to show a company where they are now versus another competitor. Learning from each other, it ensures improvement again and again.
